TOKYO/NEW YORK (Reuters) -The yen surged against the dollar in early Asian hours on Thursday on what traders suspected was another round of intervention by Japanese authorities to stop a sharp slide in the currency, with the 160 level seen as a key line of defence.

TD Cowen analyst Jaret Seiberg commented on the cannabis sector following reports that the DEA will send to the White House for review a proposal to move cannabis to schedule three from schedule one.
Analysts said they were not surprised by the maneuver but cautioned that the effort to reclassify cannabis as a less dangerous drug could take time.
